Clean-Up: May Edition

Hope you guys had a good Memorial Day. We have some service men out there that I’m proud to call Clinkers. We’re grateful for your service fellas!

Ever once in a while I like to put a post together of interesting things that people have sent me, things we’ve found floating around the Clink-uverse or things just buzzing around the web. Here we go…

Masaya Okamoto, hailing from Kamagaya, Chiba Japan sent this great photo of him in his Syracuse Chiefs Edition and some Minor League players from his town. Here’s what Masaya had to say…

“Hello The Clink Room
In this time, I took picture with Japanese baseball players and The clink room baseball cap. My town (Kamagaya,Chiba) has Baseball team, Kamagaya Fighters(like a minor team). Recently, I go to watch baseball game every weekend. I hope you can came to my town, and watch baseball game!

Masaya Okamoto”

We love us some Japan! Hopefully we can get a couple gigs over there in the next year or so. In a few weeks we’ll be offering a small promotion to help raise a few bucks for the Japan Tsunami Relief effort. It’s a little late in coming. Better late than never I guess. Keep an eye out for that.

We get a lot of love from the fitted hat blog world out there (it’s a bigger world than you’d think). We always appreciate it. They really help us get The Clink Room word out. I was contacted by a site that’s new to me but is well done and looks like it’s got a bright future. Andy Hung’s 5950addict is a great curation of the New Era hat. You can tell Andy’s a passionate guy. Keep up the good work Andy!

Here is a video you may have seen already but I don’t care. It’s of a woman crying because a new In-N-Out was just opening in the Dallas area. I too would have cried if In-N-Out opened an outpost in Brooklyn when I lived there. Now, thankfully, I live in S.D. and am a short drive from no less than 5 In-N-Outs.

Speaking of the Dallas areas, here’s a photo of a couple Clinkers at the San Antonio Sneaks Up 5. Its TScrooge and Kixpos Juan Carlos. Juan Carlos, hailing from the Dallas area, is one of the nicest most enthusiastic Clinkers we’ve got and Clinkixpo, I mean Kixpo will be unveiling a collaboration towards the end of summer. It’s some great looking stuff and we’re excited to be working with them. Go get a Double-double animal style for me fellas.

Tomorrow! We begin to tell the story of Jason Villanti’s epic Sludgebugs Reject League cap! It goes on sale this weekend and it’s a beaut. Till tomorrow!

Oh! Snap Backs

Check this great site celebrating all things snap backs. Oh! Snap Backs (here) is just about the most comprehensive collective of a sub-sub-fasion genre you’re going to find. And that’s why it’s great. What’s the future of the web? I’ll bet on going deep. Sure they’re will always be agregators, but I love that there are passionate people doing passion things in their small corner of the World. Keep it up Oh! Snap Backs! Hopefully, The Clink Room will have a snap back to contribute to the volumes of Oh! Snap Backs’ tomes.

Do you guys have any sites that are documenting something super specific and are super specialists?

Jason Klein vs. John Lasseter

I saw this video of the legendary and amazing John Lasseter, head of Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios and the new head of Disney Imagineering. What a trio of titles, right? Definitely one of my heros. This video chronicles Mr. Lasseter’s epic hawaiian shirt collection (My Pops also has an amazing Hawaiian shirt collection. Not a cheesy one either, real classy-like.). The video is cool and all, but it reminded me that John Lasseter was once a ride operator for the Jungle Cruise. He mentions it around the 1:05 mark.

Why is that significant? Well, I’m glad you asked. Our very own Jason has been obsessed with the Jungle Cruise for many moons. He used to give impromptu “Jungle Cruise” tours around the quad at our alma mater, Helix High School. A spot-on never miss a word performance too. Really impressive. So impressive is his Jungle Cruise knowledge that in 2007 Jason answered a call to win a chance to be a guest Jungle Cruise Skipper for the day. And he won! See, dreams do come true. Wanna see him in action? Well, here ya go…

Just to explain a bit, Jason used to live in Florida now lives in Vegas, hopefully we’ll get him back to SD soon. And yes, this is how he talks in everyday life. Like he’s announcing his own personal horse race in his mind.

The Greatest Speech Ever

Only in Minor League Baseball, the Peoria Chiefs invited Tim “Wild Thang” Lepard to tell us why he wakes up every morning to give thanks for his band of trained goats, dog riding monkeys and the good woman sitting in the truck. I’m going to mount a flat screen TV above my bed and have this speech wake me up on a timer each and every morning.

I Need a Girl Scout Sash

Well, The Clink Room needs a Girls Scout sash. Scratch that, The Clink Room needs something like a Girl Scout sash. Something to put all of our patches on. I feel as if they’re kinda like merit badges and that they need a sash-esque place to call home. Know what I mean? A letterman’s jacket? A giant blank hat? A sticker book?

Shout out any ideas you have in the comments. If your idea gets used not only will we be indebted to you for eternity. But We’ll shower you with Clink Room merchandise, you’ll get Clink patches from now till the end of time, and whatever sash-esque thing you invent of course.

College Rain Delay Jousting

Now this is a way to fill time during a rain delay. Rain delays are a big problem for most of our clubs. Jason and I have always theorized that there’s got to be someway to turn that lemon into lemonade. Jousting is a start. If I owned a club I’d make rain delays into a giant slip-n-slide, water fight, Bollywood style rain-god celebration. If you guys have any ideas for how to fill that time, hit us up in the comments. You could literally change the baseball industry with your ideas in these here comments. Go!

Kick this weekend’s ass everyone!

Mishka Tees!

We got Mishka tees here! When Mishka asked us to collaborate on the Cycotics brand they originally asked for just a couple of hat designs. But we whipped them into a tee-jersey and Cyco Simon mascot froth. 4 styles available. White & Black colorways of the Cycotics City logo. With the Mishka trademark “78” in custom Cycotics numbering with the Mishka wordmark we created.

We also did two Cyco Simon mascot tees. One in Black, full color running the rivals mascot down. And a signature Clink behind-the-scenes style sketch of Cyco Simon on white.

Get the Mishka X Clink Room tees here. The circle is now complete.
