About This Design
Tlaxcalli is the Nahuatl name for tortilla. This design tried to highlight the direct relationship between women and tortilla making, which goes beyond a simple trade. Since pre-Hispanic times, Mexican women have been responsible for growing corn and making tortillas (with all the work that entails). This work and effort are the cornerstone of our gastronomy.
