About This Design

One day, while I was on line ready to order the Flying Dutchman burger at In-N-Out, I wondered where it got its name. After some research, I learned that The Flying Dutchman was an actual pirate ship from the 1800s. The long and short of it is that it's a famed ghost ship. After not being able to dock during a horrible storm, the ship was stuck at sea where everyone perished. After that day, a lot of sailors spoke of seeing the ship's reflection in the water from the sun and moon but there was no ship present. They described it as the famed ghost ship with a ghostly crew that sailed over the phantom ocean. So I teamed up with Patrick at Flanagan Studios trying to recreate this image of the Flying Dutchman. It was the perfect pairing as I learned that Patrick spent some time as a pirate and soldier on the deck of The Flying Dutchman in a pirate flick! Needless to say he did incredible work. We hope you like it!
