Ixchel or Ix Chel is the name of the Jaguar Goddess of the moon, midwifery, fertility, procreation and medicine in the ancient Maya Culture. As an ancient fertility goddess, Ixchel was responsible for sending rain to nourish the crops. She aided fertility by overturning her sacred womb jar so that the waters would flow.
