A Mexican designer, who believes that designs inspired by Mexican history and culture are the best way he can help promote a positive vision of México. Jacobo considers it not only a great opportunity as a designer, but also as a responsibility as a Mexican to represent his people and his roots.
Based on the famous image of the Mexican sleeping on a cactus. For a long time this image was erroneously related to the idea that Mexicans are lazy, however the true story behind it goes back to a sculpture called "the thinker" made by Romulo Rozo Peña and that sought to represent a peasant resting after a hard day of work in the fields, trying to highlight the hardworking and thoughtful spirit of the Mexican. The sculpture was exhibited in the National Library of Mexico in 1932 when a "funny man" found it funny to place a bottle of tequila in front of the sculpture, the press took pictures of it and quickly the true meaning of the work was perverted. This design is a small effort to "vindicate" this famous image by revealing its true meaning and origin.
