My 4-yr-old daughter challenged me to design a candy corn hat for Halloween. For generations, kids have done one thing with candy corn – they jam it on their teeth like vampire fangs! So, that was the seed of the idea. I thought instead of a kid, what if it was this hideous, macabre vampire with big candy corn fangs? This hat only works if you see the candy corn fangs right away. I didn’t want the vampire to distract from them in any way. So instead of making him color, I made him entirely grayscale, so the candy corn pops! Rather than the suave Bela Lugosi type vampire, I went with the more Max Schreck/Nosferatu-style to make him more grotesque and heighten the dissonance between him and the fangs. This is very much my sense of humor, which not everyone gets. So, I thought I should run this one by The Clink Room before going any further with it. To my surprise and delight, they said, “Collector’s Only!” and I couldn't be more excited!
