About This Design
Arktos is the original word for "bear." Pre-Germanic tribes believed that if they uttered the actual word, it would cause one of the cursed beasts to magically appear. They opted instead to call them "bears," because it meant "little brown ones." The word "Arctic" also comes from "Arktos," which made the northern lights motif a natural fit.
