About This Design

This piece combines two Japanese elements which represent tranquility and balance; The Koi fish is used in a lot of the Japanese culture's imagery to represent the balance of good and bad, light and dark, etc. And the Cherry Blossom tree is seen as sign of renewal and the cycle of life and death. So, in this design, I really wanted to capture a sense of tranquility, renewal and balance through the soft shapes of the Koi fish and the colors/flower pattern of the Japanese Cherry Blossom. I like to think, when looking at this design, that it could be a symbol of starting each day fresh (renewal) with a sense of calm and balance, which brings hope that things can begin again and have the chance to be better.
